Export & Trade Counseling Certification

Under the Small Business Jobs Act (SBJA) of 2010, SBDC Lead Centers must have five employees or 10% of their staff, whichever is the lesser of the two, certified in international trade. In response to this requirement, the U.S. Commercial Service of the Department of Commerce, the Small Business Administration, and the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee have created the Export and Trade Counseling Certification Training webpage.

The certification tests at two levels–Introductory and Intermediate. SBA affiliated small business counselors will receive a certificate upon passing the exams. However, accredited NASBITE CGBP professionals surpass both these certification exams and satisfy their certification requirements.
