The CGBP is a closed-book exam conducted electronically and administered by TesTrac. Candidates can take the exam from the comfort of their own home or office, as long as their internet connect and computer meet basic specifications and they have a camera on their computer.  NASBITE International contracts with B-Virtual to provide remote proctoring services via the online testing platform.

The exam consists of 150 scored multiple-choice questions completed within a three-hour time period. You will have 165 questions with 15 being "test" questions for possible future exam questions; these will be tossed out and not part of your scoring. However, you will not know which 15 questions are not scored. All exam questions come from the CGBP tasks and knowledge statements.

Scoring is based off of the number of questions answered correctly with no penalty for incorrect answers. It is to your advantage to guess the answer if you are uncertain. The minimum passing score is 500 points on a scale of 200 to 800 points (800 being he highest possible score). The average pass rate is 55 percent. Notices are sent by e-mail. Candidates who successfully pass the CGBP exam will receive their total score; however, individuals that do not pass will receive their total score in addition to individual scores within each of the four domains.
